Author Guidelines

Media Dialogues is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal publishing original research articles, theoretical and review papers, and critical analyses in media and communication studies, including economic and political-economy perspectives on information and communication processes.

All submissions must be made through the journal’s online submission system (OJS). Manuscripts submitted by email or outside the system will not be considered.


Templates (recommended)

To streamline peer review and production, authors are strongly encouraged to use the official Media Dialogues manuscript templates:

Manuscript preparation and structure

Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English. The recommended length for research and review articles is 3,000–10,000 words (including references), unless otherwise specified for a particular section.

Manuscripts should normally include the following elements:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Main text organized with clearly labeled and numbered sections and subsections
  • Conclusion
  • References

Abstract and keywords

Authors must provide an abstract of up to 250 words, clearly stating the purpose, methodology/approach, and main findings or arguments. Please include 3–6 keywords immediately following the abstract.


Citation and referencing style (APA 7)

The journal requires the use of the APA style (7th edition) for all citations and references.

In-text citations should follow the author–date format (e.g., Smith, 2020; Smith & Cook, 2021; Cook et al., 2019). The reference list must be complete, accurate, alphabetically ordered, and formatted according to APA 7 standards. Where available, authors are strongly encouraged to include DOIs.


Originality and simultaneous submissions

Submitted manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.


Peer review

Each submission is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Authors must ensure that the Main Manuscript is anonymized for double-blind peer review.


Open access policy

Media Dialogues is published as an Open Access journal, providing immediate and free access to all published content in order to maximize visibility and citation impact. At present, no submission or publication fees are charged.


Ethics and publication integrity

The journal follows the ethical standards and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are required to disclose any conflicts of interest and to ensure the integrity, originality, and proper attribution of all content.


 

Submission Preparation Checklist

Please confirm that:

  • The submission is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The manuscript fits the aims and scope of Media Dialogues.
  • The manuscript follows APA style (7th edition).
  • All in-text citations and references comply with APA standards and include DOIs where available.
  • The submission includes Title, Abstract, Keywords, main text, and References.
  • The Main Manuscript has been anonymized for double-blind peer review.
  • A separate Title Page file has been provided.
  • All authors have approved the submission and agree with the journal’s policies.

This section publishes critical, interpretive, and conceptual essays offering original perspectives on media, communication, and dialogue.
