Abstract

In this paper the phenomenon of globalization is considered, i.e. the phenomenon of the world system - the center, the semiperiphery and the periphery. In addition to the aforementioned social and political phenomena, the sociological correlation of the world system and liberal democracy is also discussed. Liberal democracy is based on values, but on the other hand, is being manipulated. Therefore, it is gradually entering a stage of crisis, primarily because of political leaders, political interests, political ignorance, terrorism, etc. In order for liberal democracy to be sustainable, it is necessary for leaders to be active participants in the life of social community. It is also necessary for citizens to take an active part in political life. It is their duty to elect the governors and to be elected as well. This is what liberal democracy ultimately entails.
