This issue of Media Dialogues / Medijski dijalozi brings together articles addressing workplace communication, psychological violence, prison resocialisation, digital communication, post-socialist transition, gender-based violence in online media, and virtual reality. The volume opens with a study on communication, psychological violence and the performance of foreign employees in the private sector in Istanbul, with particular attention to employee service quality, productivity and creativity.

The issue also includes an article on the communication and resocialisation dimensions of colours in prison, showing how the prison environment, interior design and colour symbolism may influence prisoners’ communication, behaviour and re-education. Another contribution proposes a digital communication model for the contemporary online environment, taking into account the transformation of sender-receiver relations, the role of social media platforms, digital traces, networked interaction and the changing temporal and spatial dimensions of communication.

The following articles focus on wider social, political and media-related problems. One contribution critically discusses the modern state, post-socialist transition, quasi-neoliberal practices, alternative institutions and the metaphor of new “shackles”. Another examines how Bosnian and Herzegovinian online portals report on gender-based violence, contrasting sensationalist and tabloid-style reporting with more analytical and investigative approaches. The issue closes with an article on the impact of virtual reality on the future of media and communication, discussing its potential in journalism, advertising, entertainment and education, as well as the challenges of cost, accessibility, standardisation and ethical responsibility.
